Botox FAQ's

You want to look younger. The signs of aging have been bothering you lately. They’re making you look tired or angry. You see yourself looking older than you feel, but you don’t want surgery or any long recovery period.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical treatment that can temporarily smooth facial lines, giving skin a smooth, rested and more youthful appearance.

It temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases and crow’s feet around the eyes.

A Botox treatment only takes a few minutes and a noticeable difference is seen within days. The effects can last for up to four months.

How Does It Work?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the clostridium botulism bacterium which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause many facial lines to form. Relaxing specific muscles allows lines of expression to soften, giving the skin a smooth appearance within a week. Because specific muscles are targeted, desired facial expressions are unaffected. Skin sensation also remains unchanged.

What should I expect?
The appointment begins with a personal consultation with Dr. Billinkoff. Your individual concerns are discussed and your questions are answered. Once everything is explained the treatment only takes a few minutes. A series of tiny injections is given which doesn't require any anesthetic. In most cases there is no down time and patients can resume their normal activities.

The effects start to become noticeable within a couple of days. Best results are seen within two weeks. These results usually last for up to four months. Repeated use is recommended to maintain a more youthful appearance.

Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?
By targeting specific muscles with appropriate doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic, only unwanted negative expressions should be affected. The muscle activity that causes facial lines is simply reduced. A BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment should not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you “had work done”.

Who should administer BOTOX® Cosmetic?
While many physicians’ offices offer BOTOX® Cosmetic injections, many are actually performed by a nurse assistant. At Waterfront Laser Aesthetics Inc. all injections are performed personally by Dr. Errol Billinkoff.

Which areas are most commonly treated?
Although dozens of areas can be treated, BOTOX® Cosmetic is most often used to treat frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet around the eyes and horizontal forehead lines.

What is the cost of a BOTOX® Treatment?
Many patients are surprised at how affordable BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment can be. We charge just $10 per unit and will match the advertised price or written quote from any Winnipeg clinic offering BOTOX® Cosmetic.

The amount of BOTOX® required to treat an area depends on the size of the muscle causing the wrinkle. This means that the amount of BOTOX® required for a man is usually more than for a woman.

The average cost of treating some of the most common areas in a woman is:
-Forehead Lines - $100
-Crow’s Feet (around the eyes) - $180
-Frown Lines (between the eyebrows) - $300
